North Carolina, Here We is

It's been a week and two days since we arrived in the beautiful southern city of Durham, North Carolina. We're already convinced that the accent here is awesome and that we'll love our time here in this wooded part of the USA. Emily is getting a little larger (pregnancy is the only time in life when that comment can be made about a woman without fear of repercussion via rolling pin) and Chad has had plenty of little projects around the house to keep him busy while he waits for Law School orientation to start.
Yesterday we visited the Eno River State Park and took a slightly longer than expected hike. Thankfully Chad's spent the last year and a half with the 11-year-old scouts so we were able to use a map and trail blazing skills to successfully navigate the 1.5 mile trail without getting lost. En route we saw several turtles, one of which was about as afraid of snakes as Chad, Emily's shoe and a small frog just about became too well acquainted, and a nice German fisherman detailed the many problems with our motherland.
Lastly, we'd like to thank Mom and Dad Turner for traveling the 2,100+ miles with us. We made it over the great hills of Wyoming, across the corn fields of Nebraska, through a section of Iowa where there were no corn fields, into Missouri with a pit stop at Liberty Jail, past the arch in St. Louis, through Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, West Virginia, Virginia, and finally into scenic North Carolina.

After lots of cleaning and a couple of nights on the floor Mom and Dad went to Pennsylvania where it sounds like they had a great time. Fortunately we've graduated from the air mattress and somehow we've now managed to furnish our entire apartment for less than it would have cost to rent a larger U-Haul trailer to fit Chad's old bedroom set.
Lots of love from the "Old North State" and we'll do our best to keep this blog hoppin'.

Well it's not a Friday/Saturday night football game...or an evening at corn belly's...or any of the other fun things we've hit up together, but the blog is still a pretty good way to keep in touch.

Thanks for sharing! It's good to keep up with y'all.

Chad, thanks for keeping us in the loop. It sounds like a far cry to living in the high desert to which Emily was accustomed. We look forward to visiting next summer if you will have us. Keep those pictues coming. Dad Butler
