Chad Turner, esquire

So, Chad graduated... but before we get to that, let's talk about the marvelous weekend we spent in Durham. We flew into DC from Iceland on a Wednesday night, spent the night in Virginia with Chad's brother and fam, and then drove the 4 hours into Durham Thursday morning. The first thing we did once we hit Durham was this:

Best chicken and waffles of all time.

We then checked into our luxurious Extended Stay America (yes, they even threw in some carpet stains for free!), dropped the kids off at Neenee's house-much to Lincoln's delight!- and attended Chad's Graduation Gala. It was so fun to see Chad's classmates after such a long time away. Chad sure has great classmates! They are all incredibly smart and talented! 

Friday happened and Zalie got shots, Lincoln rode trikes, and Chad's family came into town! Saturday morning we spent time at a strawberry patch with some of the cutest strawberry pickers of all time.

He loved it! And he did not eat a ton like last year! 

We then bought the tailgating package from Q-Shack and picnicked at the Duke Gardens. It was delicious and relaxing. But, someone may have tossed a ball into the pond and the boys spent about an hour figuring out how to get it out.

Then the kids actually napped, making us a little late to Chad's graduation. But, we didn't miss anything really. We just made Chad a little nervous. The kids were happy though! Especially since Grandma and Grandpa, Uncle Lance, Aunt Sherstine and Uncle Rob, and Aunt Ruth and Uncle Kevin were fabulous entertainers.

We are all so proud of Chad! Law school was quite the 3 year adventure! It took 8 semesters, including a summer in Geneva and an externship in the Hague, pro bono work for Both Ends Burning which turned into employment, an externship with Carolina Adoption Services, a semester on the Bowling League, many classes, papers, and exams, and a significant amount of student loan debt, but he did it! Not many people can succeed in Law School while becoming a father two times over, traveling the world, giving time to help orphans get out of orphanages, and serve greatly in church. Chad is amazing, to say the least. We love him so much!
