Annecy! (and before)

This week has been a lot of fun and to cap it off we spent a day in one of France's best kept secrets, the town of Annecy. But before we get ahead of ourselves, let's start with a picture of Chad trying to eat prune yogurt (it was absolutely disgusting).

Good, now let's move on to all the exciting stuff that happened this week. Chad was feeling bad that Lincoln didn't have a whole lot of toys with us so he bought Lincoln a little tractor, which Lincoln loves. Lincoln has a thing for wheels and so this was the perfect toy for him.

On Wednesday, Emily and Lincoln came into Geneva and met Chad after work to do a little exploring. Here are some pictures of Chad and the firm he works at and Geneva and the water taxi we took to get from one side of the lake to the other.

Waiting for Dad to get off work.

Now, as if anyone needed reminding, here are a few pictures to remind you how cute Lincoln is.

Hey Marie, look at how Lincoln camouflages!

Who could say no to this face?
Emily went to the market in Annemasse (where we live) and scored on a scarf, a shirt, a dress, a top, and a T-shirt for Chad. And she got to see someone on stilts.

Apparently our apartment is in a war zone. Just kidding, but some cars did catch fire and burn making it look like a war zone. On the bright side the burnt smell helps Emily know that she's made it to the right spot after she goes out on walks or to the market.

And now for the main event! Our trip to Annecy, a little town in the French Alps about an hour south of Geneva. Hopefully the pictures do it justice, but let's just say we fell so deeply in love with the city that we decided that when Chad makes beacoup bucks we're going to buy a summer castle in Annecy and come to France annually (too bad Chad's decided not to work at a big law firm, though, beacoup bucks are hard to come by as an attorney for the U.S. government). So, with as little interruption as necessary, let us introduce you to Annecy, France.

Lincoln's first train ride. It was a hit.

Statute? or man dressed as a statute?

for his paddle boat ride.

This next photo needs some explaining. These men are dressed up like characters from Astérix et Obélix. The one in the middle has the rosetta stone on his back and is dressed like Obélix and the others are Roman soldiers. Apparently, there is a tradition in France that when a man is about to get married he and his buddies go out on the town to try and raise some money for the wedding. They do all sorts of fun and slightly crazy things (remember this because it becomes important later).

If you don't get what's going on in this picture, read
the above.

Entering a chocolate shop is waking up the child
that sleeps within each one of us.

The basilica on top of a hill that
we hiked to.

What a view!

The inner court of the local castle.

Emily's first kébab.
Ok, so this is where that picture and explanation from above become important. The groom and his buddies went to the main bridge over the canal and set up a little thing where you could throw yogurt at them for 50 centimes (euro cents).

Guess who paid 50 centimes to throw yogurt at the groom?

Shout out to our favorite missionary in Florida!

Lincoln still doesn't like grass.

But he loves water.

Our little party of Annecy adventurers (except Chad
who took the photo).
In short, Annecy is awesome! We may have to return, if for nothing else to take a picture of the delicious ice cream we ate, but didn't take a snapshot of.
