How-da you do?

This week we enjoyed the Hague and ventured out to Gouda on Saturday. During the week, Zalie started solids for the first time ever! On Monday she was not very good at it, but by Friday she'd more or less figured it out. She is growing up way too fast!

Tuesday was sunny, so we took advantage of it and played at the park. Lincoln loved it! We then had a picnic on the grass. It was so nice and we are looking forward to summer! Unfortunately, every other day this week was freezing.

On Friday we met up during Chad's lunch break at the Bredius Museum. There were some pretty paintings, furniture, and pottery. It was a small enough museum that we were able too see everything in about 20 minutes and get out of the museum before Lincoln was too loud.  Then we had a picnic on a bench.

A perspective painting.

Saturday we took a train for about 15 minutes and landed ourselves in Gouda (pronounced "HOW-da, not "GOO-da"). Gouda is one of the most mispronounced cheeses (well, and cities I guess). We were lucky enough to have this guy greet us:

"I make some delicious cheese!"

We went to the Gouda Museum and it was full of the usual: paintings, furniture, pottery, etc.. But, what was awesome about it was that it had a room named "kinder museum" and it was full of fun activities for Lincoln. Chad and Emily switched off watching the kids in the kinder museum and looking at  the actual museum. It was so nice! All museums should have kids rooms.

Chad is pretty proud of this rooster tile puzzle
he completed in the kinder museum.

This was a puppet in a vase, and Lincoln thought it was the
funniest thing in the world. Chad thought he was pretty funny.
We went to see the local windmill and it was so pretty. Windmills never get old.

This was a cool puppet thing that did a little show to a bell tune every half hour.  It's on one of the oldest Gothic style town halls in the Netherlands.

Lincoln and Chad loved eating fries near the windmill.

We kind of felt obligated to buy Gouda cheese.

We sure liked how cute and small-towny Gouda was. We had a great time and loved that Lincoln got to play in the museum. And Emily likes her blingy bag she bought there that says something in Dutch on it!

Can you adopt me? I'm sure Chad can figure it out. I want to be one of your kids and see all the adventures.
