| This is our 2 year food storage shelf. How many boxes of Mike and Ikes can you spot? |
So, this week was Chad's fall break (we'll have a post about that later) and we went to Kroger to do some grocery shopping. While there Chad saw a shopping cart full of boxes of Mike and Ikes and a sign that said they were 25 cents. Chad put four boxes in our cart because Emily likes Mike and Ikes and Chad always used to buy her a box before her tests at BYU. After rounding up more groceries we got to the checkout line. Chad was watching to make sure the prices rang up correctly and when the Mike and Ikes came up it said they were 10 for 25 cents. Crazy, right?! 10 for 25 cents! So, with Chad holding the line, Emily ran back to the cart and grabbed 12 more boxes of Mike and Ikes.
After exiting the store, we decided that we should get more since the price was so good! After a little joking and badgering back and forth, Chad re-entered the store and grabbed a basket which he stuffed with 40 boxes of Mike and Ikes. Chad didn't want to go through the embarrassment of having a clerk ring up 40 boxes of Mike and Ikes and nothing else, so instead he used the self-checkout. After 5 minutes of scanning every box and placing them in two grocery bags Chad emerged triumphant.
And now we have 56 (well 55 because Lincoln chewed on one box on the way home from the store and we had to eat it) boxes of Mike and Ikes. All for under $1.50. Now the tough part, do we save them for food storage or give them out to trick-or-treaters?
