A Quick Overnighter

This past weekend we packed up the Matrix and headed off for a quick trip to D.C. We first went to Ford's Theatre and saw where Lincoln was shot and the house across the street where he died. Our little Lincoln liked going up and down all the stairs everywhere, but other than that he just wanted to run around after being in the car for four hours.

Chad with his favorite Lincolns.

This is about as close as we get to
an artsy photo.

Inside the room where Abraham Lincoln passed away.

Chad thought his shelf of Lincoln books
was getting out of hand until he saw
this.
We then took a hop, skip, and relatively traffic-free gallop over to the White House. We stood outside and took photos like every other tourist and then Lincoln ran around and looked at ducks and pigeons.

That night we stayed with Chad's brother and his family in Northern Virginia. We had so much fun with them and Lincoln got a little braver about being around dogs. They are such a great family and we are so excited that they are out here closer to us for a spell!

Two of Lincoln's favorite things: buses and cousins.

Whilst Lincoln took a nap we went to the Smithsonian's Air and Space museum. It was pretty cool (Chad was particularly excited to see the Concorde).

Don't know much about it, but it shares our name.

Let me see that Eagle face.

A product proudly produced by Chad's father (or at least
his father's company, but there was definitely stuff in the
museum that Chad's dad worked on).

This is just one reason we can't wait to see Chad's brother again.

Yeah, it's been in space. No big deal.
Although not part of our D.C. trip, Emily has been doing all sorts of crafty things as of late. She has made some rather amazing reversible neckties (say what?!) and a pair of the most adorable seersucker pants for Lincoln. Because, as we all know, when you live in the South gentlemen dress sharp.

All these pictures were so cute that I couldn't choose just one.

Runway walk in the living room.

Glamour shot.

Functional and fashionable.
